Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Male : : Adult
Huck is a very special young Blenheim male. He is one of the most laid back, calm and gentle Cavaliers that his foster parents have seen in rescue. He will be 4 years old in April and has spent most of his life as an outdoor dog. He loves his new indoor life and all the soft places he has found for naps. He rarely gets up on the furniture without first waiting for permission, but when granted, he quickly settles in to cuddle. He even gives the occasional tentative kiss. While he is crate trained and eagerly goes into a crate for meals, he has discovered that it is preferable to sleep on the big bed with the other Cavaliers in the family at night. He is neutered and house trained. He also walks easily on a leash and stays with the person holding the leash almost as if he had been trained to heel. He does like to run and explore with the other Cavaliers in his foster family, so a securely fenced yard is a must for Huck so that he can run and play safely. Huck gets along well with the other Cavaliers and the Springer Spaniel in his foster family. He would do equally well in his forever home if he was an only dog or if there are other dogs in the family. It is unknown how he would react with cats. Huck rarely barks and when he does it is an amazingly soft bark. The only issue his foster family has seen is a fear of sudden, sharp noises. He is not a fan of thunder! Huck is a large Cavalier, weighing 29 lbs. but has the bone structure to match and is not overweight. He is healthy and has no heart murmur. He does have a grade 1-2 luxating patella on the left that the vet does not feel needs surgical intervention at this time. He is able to run, climb stairs, and jump on furniture without difficulty. Huck will make a wonderful, loving addition to your family. He is anxiously awaiting his Forever Home. If you have any questions about Huck, please email LSCavs@aol.com.
