Heidi is a petite (10 lbs), 6 year old female who was surrendered to Lucky Star by a high volume breeder in Ohio.  When she came to us, she had a severe mite infection and her coat was thin and skin was inflamed and infected and she was very itchy.  It took a few months to treat her and rid her of the condition but she is now in great shape and her coat  has grown back healthy. 

After treating her skin, she was spayed and had dental surgery.  Because of the poor condition of her mouth all of her remaining teeth have been removed. She is on soft food and a slow feed bowl because like most Cavaliers food is always on her mind. She should be able to handle a combination of canned and kibble softened with warm broth or water.

In spite of her past, Heidi is an absolute sweetheart. She’s a quiet, happy girl with her tail always wagging. Heidi is a retired breeding dog, small in stature, aka peanut.

Heidi loves exploring in the fenced in yard and walks well on a leash. She loves car rides and has never met anyone or any age that she doesn’t like.

     Heidi does not make any effort to jump on furniture and will sit by a chair she wants to sit on, waiting to be lifted up. She loves to cuddle and gets along well with her foster siblings, both dogs and cats.

     Heidi is prone to ear infections. Once a week each ear is cleaned out with ear cleanser. Otherwise she has no health problems.

Heidi requires a home with a securely fenced yard (a physical 4 sided fence) and another dog in the home for canine companionship.  Homes with older, respectful children may be considered and preferably a home with alternating schedules or remote workers allowing someone to be home most of the time.
