Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Female : : Adult
Natalie is a retired breeder from a farm in Ohio. She is approximately 6 years old and is a very sweet, loving girl! She weighs about 22 lbs. She loves everyone and forms special bonds with her people. She feels comfortable when snuggled up next to you and tends to follow her special person around the house. She seems to have a bit of anxiety at times, but this has improved immensely over the past few weeks with lots of snuggles and love. It will take her a little time to get used to a new environment, but with love and reassurance she will adjust quickly. She does well in her foster home with 2 other Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and friendly visits from their 2 Golden Retriever friends. At times Natalie will growl when she has a special bone or toy of if a young active dog gets in her face. She attaches herself to certain toys and tends to protect and watch over them, just a warning to "leave my toy alone". This is common behavior and communication between dogs. There is no aggression with food or treats or people. We do believe Natalie is hard of hearing, possibly deaf. She does not react to loud noises or when her name is called, but she does react to loving touches and can read her persons emotion. Natalie needs a canine companion, preferably another Cavalier to help her adjust and cope with her hearing loss. Natalie is very good with her housebreaking, we have only had a few accidents in the house. She knows to potty when taken outside, but does not give you indications when she has to go….so giving her regular opportunities to go outside works best. When left alone in the house she is crated and does fine. She is currently sleeping in bed with her human foster mom and the other Cavaliers. Natalie can do steps, she is better going up steps vs down, this is improving each day. She will need additional leash training. Natalie has been spayed, vaccinated, HW and brucellosis tested (negative) and had several teeth removed during dental surgery. She has no trouble eating, just soften kibble with warm water. Natalie is being fostered in the Cincinnati area. We require a securely fenced yard for all of our rescues. Please consider her location before applying since we do not support long distant adoptions, do not ship dogs or put on planes. If you are the home for Natalie after reading about her, please complete an application, then contact Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com. Thank you.
