Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female : : Adult
Ruthie is a lovely, sweet Blenheim girl who is about 5 ½ years old. She is a retired breeder from Ohio. Ruthie was quite timid when she came to us but has progressed well. She has learned to go up and down the 6 front steps into the fenced yard and loves to run around the yard with the other dogs in her foster home. She likes to be outside in fair weather. She is very tolerant and gentle with the puppies in her foster home. Ruthie is still timid but has made good progress and is gradually learning the routine of living in a home and is more comfortable with humans than she was when she arrived. She is still working on housebreaking. She will not ask to go out so her foster mom keeps up a regular routine of taking her outside. She needs someone willing to work with her on her leash skills.
Ruthie lost many teeth during her dental procedure. She just has her canines left. Her foster mom affectionately calls her “toothless Ruth”. That doesn’t stop her from eating kibble and canned as long as it is softened with warm water or chicken broth. Her mouth is much healthier now. Soft treats would be best. Ruth has some luxation in her knees but nothing that causes her discomfort or pain or stops her from running in the yard or up the front steps. She receives a glucosamine supplement proactively for her joints. In addition to the dental care, Ruthie has been spayed, vaccinated, brucellosis and HW tested (both negative). She’s ready for a loving home of her own so she can learn what it’s like to be a loved Cavalier. Ruthie is being fostered in Maine. She requires another canine companion, preferably another Cavalier in her adoptive home and a securely fenced yard (a physical fence) is an absolute must as it is for all of our rescues. Please consider her location in the Portland, Maine area before completing an application or applying. We do not ship dogs or put on planes. Your location should be in the Northeast. After completing an application, please e-mail Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com of your interest in this dear girl.
