Seamus is amorning boy.  He does a little dance and comes up to be patted, and play with his toys.  He loves his foster dad and goes to him for comfort during thunder storms.  He walks well on a harness as long as he is with another dog.  He will definitely prosper in a home with another dog.  Seamus is still very timid with strangers, going to the corner and staying there till they leave.  He's comfortable with his foster family but a new home will require lots of patience to work through his fear of strangers till he know they are his family.  At night, he comes up to the big bed on his own.

Seamus  (SHAYmus, Irish for James) is approximately 6-7 years old and came to Lucky Star from an Amish farm in Ohio.  He was a very timid boy who obviously did not trust people.  Over time, Seamus has made some progress but still needs time and patience.   He has been neutered, vaccinated and received updated dental care including a few extractions.  He has a Grade 1 heart murmur which does not require any medication at this time.  As with all Cavaliers, especially at this age, an annual appointment with a board-certified cardiologist is recommended to monitor the heart for any changes.

Seamus loves other dogs and he is very interested and curious of new situations.  He goes to Maine with his foster family and is not at all nervous about going on the boat of stepping onto the dock.  It’s people that still have him nervous.  A very patient person who will give Seamus time and acceptance till he is able to overcome his fear of people.  He definitely needs a home with a fenced yard ( a physical fence, not an invisible fence) and he must have other dogs with him in his family.  He just loves other dogs.  Small children and active households would not be agreeable to him.  You can see from his photos what a lovely boy he is.  He is afraid of thunderstorms and gladly takes comfort in his foster dad’s lap so he has some idea that people are not so bad afterall.  He is also very keen with cats and also with the hens that live next door to him.  He may have a bit of hunting instinct in him.

Seamus is being fostered in MA with four Cavalier siblings, some dog-savvy cats and an English Setter.  If you are interested in Seamus and have the kind of home we’ve described above, please complete an adoption application and contact mary401339@aol.com , stating your location.
