Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Betty, rescued the day after Betty White passed away was named in her honor and memory. She is a retired breeder who is approximately 5 years old. Betty is a little over 19 lbs and is probably a good weight for her structure. Betty, called Princess Betty, by her foster mom, loves being with the family. You will find her always in the same room you are in. Betty also likes to be held. To insure you pick her up, Betty goes to the outside door and sits two feet from it waiting for her chariot to carry her the rest of the way. Coming in, Betty is very excited and gets all the way to the kitchen door and once again, waits to be ushered in. The word character fits her well. Betty is very social, likes everyone and all dogs. She is food motivated and adores the treat Charlie Bears.
Betty is crate trained, spends the night in a crate with another dog. Betty wants to join the others in the “big bed” and she will get that chance shortly. She is mostly potty trained. There are those days when a girl does not like getting wet and going potty outside. Betty is working on leash walking, it is slow and her adopter should continue with training. While outside, Betty does try and eat leaves. When she sees her foster mom combining to take it, she spits it out.
There are no cats where Betty is, so she is untested with cats. She adores an older child and likes to sit next to him while watching television. Betty has not been with little children. Older. Respectful, dog savvy children will be considered. A securely fenced yard is required as well as another canine companion in the home. Betty is a lovely dog and will make someone very happy.
Betty is quick and quiet and inquisitive. She is high risk for scooting out the door so anyone who is considered will have their home checked to make sure an owner has double enforcement at the exits to prevent her from escaping.
Betty is being fostered in the Hudson Valley are of NY. We do not consider long distant adoptions and we do not ship dogs. The approved applicant needs to take responsibility for picking up Betty.
