~~This is Buckley, also known as Earl.  This beautiful boy is 3-4 years old as far as we know, he has bright beautiful eyes and his coat is finally growing in and is soft as silk. He came to us very thin with brittle hair, now he weighs 16 pounds and the perfect weight.  No heart murmur as well as no knee or hip issues were noted at his vet examination.  His ears will need to be watched in the future due to ear infections he had before coming into rescue. 
 
Earl came to Lucky Star broken, sad, and scared of the world.  He had never felt grass before and would not leave the deck for the first 4 months of fostering.  He is very leery of steps and still needs training to gain confidence to use stairs.  He will need to be carried or helped until confident down the steps.  He is working on his leash skills but is still skittish around loud noises, he will seek out attention from people he meets on walks. 
 
Even though Earl has come a very long way since he entered fostering he is very quirky and will need an adoptive family willing to help him grow more.  Earl finds his crate very comforting.  He can even open the door himself and put himself to bed for a nap.  Earl is currently fostered with human siblings of all ages, other dogs, a cat, and a small furry creature.  He is ok with everyone as long as they are quiet and respectful.  We will be focusing on a quieter home with experience to work with his needs. 
 
In the end Earl really would love a family that wants a lap dog, he is a true couch potato.  He would like a person to keep him company and a crate to relax in.  He would also need someone that has a securely fence around the yard to keep him extra safe and another dog for canine companionship.  You must have patience and be willing to work with him to continue to progress made during foster care.
