Sugar is sweet, but not as sweet as Miss Villa (aka Dottie Mae to her foster mom).   This wonderful girl was surrendered to Lucky Star by a shelter, the product of a breeding/hoarding situation. She looked a little rough from having had several litters when she first came into rescue..  She received excellent veterinary care, and a lot of tender loving care as well.   What emerged was an absolutely precious girl!  Her coat is starting to grow in beautifully and her little tail wags all the time.

   Miss Villa’s estimated age is about 3 years old, but we are not absolutely sure, and she weighs around 16 lbs.  She has lost the vision in her right eye, but has vision in the other.  It is recommended that she be given inexpensive, lubricating drops such as artificial tears, to keep the eyes moistened.  She is housebroken and has not had one single accident in her foster mom's house.  Currently, she is on a premium grain-free diet, and she runs right into her crate when her bowl comes out at feeding time.  She is so gentle when she takes a treat from your hand.  She loves treats!

   Upon coming into her foster mom's house, she was very shy for the first couple of days. She took her cues from the other dogs in the home, and learned and followed the routine almost immediately.  She's a smart little girl! Confidence came very quickly for her, and her personality started to emerge as she discovered she was in a safe home that only wanted to show her love and kindness.  She soaks it up like a sponge.  This girl loves to be spoken to, and is so tickled when she gets attention, her little behind just wiggles from side to side.  She is a cuddlebug, and loves to be picked up and held, and is just as happy to lay alongside you on the sofa or in a chair. She does not pester for attention, she will curl up in a chair or a dog bed and be perfectly content by herself. Her foster mom says she is one of the easiest dogs she has ever fostered, and someone will be very lucky to get this sweetheart of a girl. Miss Villa (Dottie Mae)  loves to sleep in the big bed, but will go in an open crate and sleep or nap just as easily.  We are working on leash training and she rides nicely in the car.

   Because she is such a quiet and easy going girl, she would probably be able to fit in most homes and lifestyles.  She gets along beautifully with other dogs, but could probably be an only dog as well.  Noises (such as thunder and lightning, lawn mowers, or the vacuum, etc.) do not seem to bother her at all.  She loves going out in the yard and just recently started to notice toys. She is truly a low maintenance English Toy Spaniel and will be a wonderful, devoted companion for her forever family.  A fenced yard is preferred as well as knowledge of the breed.
