Sugar is short for Sugar Smacks.  We call him Sugar and that's because he is just soooooo sweet!.  Sugar is a 3 year-old blenheim boy who was well-cared for and loved.  Unfortunately, he did not appreciate the young children in the family so his owner recognized the warnings and surrendered him to rescue before there were any serious mishaps.   

In just a couple of days in foster care with many other Cavaliers (male and female) and a larger breed dog, he has adjusted very well.  His vet check up went very well.  There is no heart murmur and no luxating patella, heartworm negative.  He's a young, friendly, sociable, lovable boy.  He would love a canine play companion.  He seems to like big dogs.  He tries to initiate play with the Greyhound in the house.  He settles down quietly in the office when his foster mom is working and just lays at her feet, like every other Cavalier.  In just a short time, he has been a very well-behaved boy and adjusted to some big changes.  He will be a loving pet for a family who will love him back. 

He is a bit anxious when left alone so we will not consider homes where he is left along all day or an only dog.  He settles quietly in a crate at night to sleep but he would probably love to sleep on the big bed.  He has not shown any signs of being destructive when left alone for short periods during the day and left loose in the house.  A home with young children will not be suitable since he has already demonstrated his dissatisfaction with that setting. Sugar would like a fenced yard, not an invisible fence and a canine companion who can play with him.  He just wants to be included with a family. 

He is being neutered and having his teeth cleaned on Wed.(9/4) and will be available for adoption after two weeks in foster care which is Sept 12.  Please submit an application first, then contact Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com of your interest, letting her know why you would be the ideal home for this sweet boy!  He's very special so you must be special, too!
