Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Medium
Bailey came into rescue as an owner release. He has spent most of his six years in a puppy mill and had a short time in an adoptive home. Sadly that home had another dog that learned quickly that he could pick on Bailey. Fortunately Bailey's adoptive family realized this was not a good situation for Bailey and placed him with Lucky Star so he could have his own very special home. As a result of his previous situation, Bailey was very fearful and timid when he arrived in rescue. Gradually he has learned from the other dogs in his foster family (5 cavaliers and a Springer spaniel) that he doesn't have to be afraid of other dogs. Bailey is a very sweet boy who wants to please. He is very intelligent and quickly learned to climb steps, jump on the couch, and that treats are great. He loves to sit next to his foster mom on the couch and sometimes will lay his head on her lap. He also enjoys sleeping on the soft big bed with the other cavaliers and the best part is the morning belly rub time before everyone gets up! Even though Bailey is still timid in new situations and is afraid of loud noises and sudden unexpected movements, he is showing improvement every day. Bailey is a healthy boy with no known health issues. He does not have a heart murmur. He has been neutered and has had his teeth cleaned where he lost a couple of teeth. His knees are good and while he is still not able to jump to the high bed, he easily jumps onto the couch. He has learned the household routine and is house trained. He walks well on a leash. Bailey will do well in a house that is fairly quiet Small children would probably overwhelm him. He will need a family willing to work with his fears and timidity. It would also be good if there was another cavalier in the home for him to play with and learn from.
