Poppy is a 5 year old retired breeder momma from Ohio. This gal is so easy and sweet; not a mean bone in her body. She is happy to live with cats (there are 4 cats in her foster home) and gets along great with her foster sister beagle. She has met 2 other beagles, 2 shaggy littles, and a hound mix and has been perfect with all of them.  Poppy is fine with children, men, cats and other dogs and is eager to say hello and interact with anyone who visits.  Poppy is housebroken; she has not had a single accident in the 2+ months she has been in foster.  She potties every time she goes into the fenced yard.   She is crate trained,but does not need to be crated; she is not destructive and is happy to nap on her cozy bed when unsupervised. Poppy sleeps through the night (with a bit of adorable snoring). 

  Poppy has learned to master a few steps to go into the yard, but has not attempted to climb the stairs to the second floor (although she would rather be sleeping in the bedroom with the rest of her foster family).  Poppy is excellent on car rides. She is enthusiastic about going for walks, but is slightly unsure about taking leash walks; she enjoys riding in a stroller, though! The Popster likes poking around the yard, and has shown so much progress in gaining confidence in her explorations.   Poppy is surprisingly quiet, considering that she lives with a vocal beagle. Her foster mom has heard Poppy’s voice exactly 3 times in the 2+ months they have lived together.  Poppy is a very docile, calm, agreeable pup who LOVES to be snuggled and petted.  She is definitely a lap dog who wants to be near her people as much as possible, but she is able to be left on her own when her mom goes to work (or to bed). Poppy knows how to sit, and would love to learn new commands; she is treat motivated and eager to learn.  Poppy had 18 teeth extracted when she was spayed, but she eats kibble like a champ!  Poppy is very fond of cheese and bananas. 

Poppy has been spayed, vaccinated had several extractions when she had her dental surgery (18) and tested negative for heartworm and brucellosis.  She has a Grade 1 heart murmur which does not require medication at this time but an echo is recommended for a baseline assessment in the  not too distant future.
