UPDATED: Jo has changed so much during her time with her foster family that we wanted to update her pictures and some new information for her bio. Her coat has grown out beautifully and she no longer looks like the shaved down little girl that first came to us. She has also lost 3 lbs and is now at her ideal weight.

Jo is a puppy in a senior-dog’s body. She is an avid collector of fine plush toys. She no longer hoards her toys since she is confident there will always be a treasured toy to play with! Small squeaky plush toys are her favorite. She likes if you make a game out of her collections, where you place them around the house for her to find and recollect. She also loves to play a game of squeaky toy wrestling with you.

Jo now loves to cuddle and to be held in her foster mommy's lap...and foster daddy too!. Jo needs another dog in her pack to help her learn how to be the very best version of herself. She has developed a real fondness for medium to large size dogs. Jo loves people! She loves to go on adventures and outings in public where she can meet new human and pup friends. She walks well on a leash.

Jo is still working on potty training but doing well. Right now she prefers to potty on wood (like a deck) or concrete. This will be an ongoing work with her as she continues to blossom, and she enjoys being celebrated when she is a good girl anywhere outside.
Jo has a grade one patella that sometimes causes instability in her back legs (e.g., cross legged walking) and has arthritis in her front elbows and joints. She has responded very well to cold laser therapy and her future home should consider this as she ages. She currently is on a physical therapy regimen of exercises that are building stability and strength. Her foster mom will teach her forever home these exercises, which take about 10-15 minutes once a day. She will need to remain on joint supplements (i.e., glucosamine, MSM, fish oil). She has responded extremely well to physical therapy and is becoming a very strong girl.

Jo is being fostered in the Lexington, KY area. She needs a companion dog and we want a physically fenced small yard for her. If you are interested in making this sweet girl a part of your family please fill out an adoption application at www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org and email Pat Wellmeier and let her know of your interest: pwellmeier@myself.com
