Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Male : : Adult : : Medium
Wow! May 31st, 2013 was not only a national holiday - It was the day that my life began again after Lucky Star rescued me. Before that, I spent my life in a cage. At first I was very scared and stayed in my crate - but it just took 6 days of that to figure out how great life is here at my foster Mom's house. My name is Blaze and I am 'blazing" trails now, following my foster Mom and the other dogs who live here around, exploring. I have been doing potty outside with the other dogs and not in the house or my crate. Even though I only have 5 teeth left I eat regular kibble using my extra long tongue to scoop it up! She puts my food bowl in my crate and I just gobble it up, it tastes so good! I weighed 21 pounds when I got here but I’ve lost some extra pounds and now weigh 16.5 pounds. My new friends think I'm about 7-8 years old. Everyone thinks I'm really cute and friendly. I have wobbly legs but I'm getting stronger everyday. I go up 3 stairs by myself to get inside from the yard but going down steps is too hard for me! It was 9 days until I decided it would be OK to bark sometimes and I must admit I do snore! My check up was good at the vet, I got neutered, shots, heartworm test was fine, no heart murmur and I have a microchip too! My ears were infected but after two cycles of ear drops they are feeling good now!! One of my eyes is dry so I get drops twice a day in my left eye. I don't mind a bit. I was checked out by a surgeon about my back legs. I might need patella surgery someday but for now I am doing well with pain meds and practicing walking. I was sure happy to have a bath and get all combed and I look very handsome. My foster Mom has been pointing out to everyone my darker fur over my eyes that is in the shape of a heart! She thinks that’s so cute. I've been sitting on the couch with my foster Mom and the other dogs but I need help to get up there. I go back to my crate for naps or to hang out and that's where I sleep at night and happily snore away! The other dogs wake me up in the morning and another wonderful day begins!! After my 3rd week here I found out how much fun it is to play with a tennis ball. I just pick it up with my 3 canine teeth and carry it around, my very own ball! Sometimes I push it around a little with my mouth or front feet. Then I leave it on my bed until I want to try that again. I'd be happy to just stay here but my foster Mom says there is a wonderful person out there who would want me forever. Is it you? Blaze needs a fairly quiet home, kids over 10, fenced yard (not an invisible fence), best in a home with one level. Will need continued eye drops. This sweet dog has made incredible progress since rescue. He gets along with every dog he meets and gazes lovingly in your eyes showing his spirit and appreciation.
