Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Brie is a wonderful, affectionate and beautiful girl. She absolutely ADORES humans and would like to be friends with everyone she meets. She thrives on human attention and her most favorite thing in the world is to be pet by people. Brie is approximately 6 years old and is in very good health. She was released from a commercial breeding facility and had to learn what life was like in a home environment. When she arrived in foster care, this transition to home life created a great deal of anxiety for her, but she has since overcome all her worries and is an amazing companion. She behaves wonderfully and is a delight to be around. She has a very well-balanced activity level and will adapt to whatever the activity level of the home is. Currently, she prefers to spend her days napping in cozy dog beds or on the couch with her foster siblings while her foster mom works from home. She gets frequent breaks throughout the day to go out in the yard and she is excellent with her house training. Although Brie enjoys being a couch potato, she also enjoys walks through the neighborhood, playing with toys and romping in the yard with her foster siblings. Brie has been extremely well behaved in her foster home. She is not destructive nor does she bark excessively. Brie does well at night and when left alone. She is not a fan of the crate and would prefer not to use one, but a lot of work has been done to teach her that a crate isn’t bad if she needs to use one in case of emergency. For dogs that have spent their lives in cages in commercial breeding facilities, we tend to see one of two responses to being crated. Some find comfort in a crate because it is all they have known and it makes them feel safe amidst so many new things they are experiencing. Others prefer not to have to be in a crate again because they are enjoying their new environment. Brie falls into that second category. Currently, the only time she is in a crate is to eat her meals which gives her a positive association to being in a crate. She runs right inside and happily awaits her meal. When she needs to be left alone at home, Brie does very well being confined to the kitchen with her foster siblings. At nighttime she sleeps in a large pen with the other dogs in her foster mom’s bedroom as seen in the picture. She is happy and quiet all night long. Brie will make an amazing addition to her new family. An ideal home for Brie will be one where someone is home most of the time. Because Brie loves humans SO much! She wants to be in the presence of her people at all times. At those times when her humans are not around, she will find comfort in being with the other dogs and that keeps her from feeling anxious that her humans are gone. A relatively quiet home with routine and predictability would be best for Brie as well as another dog to be her companion. A fenced yard is definitely required as well.
