Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Female : : Adult
Holly is a darling 17-pound, Blenheim female who is 6 years old. Holly is a retired breeder from a farm in Ohio. Holly came to Lucky Star in December so we gave her a holiday name. We consider ourselves lucky to have had this sweetheart of a girl in our home for Christmas!! What a special story for her to tell her closest buddies that her earliest days of freedom were during the special holiday of: Christmas!! Let me begin by telling you that Holly wags her tail all day long! A happier girl would be difficult to find!! Holly eats with her small pack of cavaliers in the kitchen (2x's/day), and always looks forward to her meals! Her favorite snacks include: "treats" from the jar, blueberries, sweet potato, organic canned pumpkin, hardboiled egg whites and turkey.
Holly loves a bubble bath and all the pampering that it provides! Holly is crate trained. Fleece blankets are in her crate for extra snuggles for this wonderful girl! Holly sleeps in her crate every night and when we leave the house. Holly will sleep/rest on a throw rug, the living room carpet, in a fluffy dog bed or on the couch with her humans. Holly is currently living with 4 cavalier siblings. Holly loves her pack and is just so sweet to both males and females. It would be great if she continued to have a dog sibling in the adoptive home, as Holly continues to learn appropriate behaviors from them. Holly can jump onto the couch. Her jumping skills are excellent! There are foam dog steps next to the couch for her to use when she's ready to get down from the couch. Holly can walk well on a leash. There have been a few short walks sprinkled in since she came into foster. Holly has met some of our neighbors and is every bit of a social girl with these new friends. Older, dog-savvy children would be acceptable.
Holly is current with all vaccinations. While at the vet, she had her dental appointment and spaying.
Holly loves being outside on the grass and is a girl who can run very fast! Holly is taken outside every 90 minutes- to 2 hours for bathroom purposes. It's usually a quick pitstop, since it's winter and she does know what's expected of her once we have her outside. She is always supervised outside since she is a flight risk. Supervision when outside is a must for her so a doggy door is not acceptable.
Holly only wants to please her humans and she has found that being obedient will get her praise and favorable attention.
Despite all of her high energy while outdoors, Holly is most definitely a mellow, compliant dog while inside the house.. Holly will often find a sunny spot in the house (near a window or doorway) and will lay down there as a sun worshipper in the warmest spot in the house. Holly has a very nice temperament! Holly would be a fabulous addition to many, many homes. This is a gentle, kind, girl who is full of love and life!
Holly is being fostered in Newburgh, NY. We do not consider long distant adoptions, do not ship dogs and do not put on planes. Please consider your location before applying. We absolutely require a securely fenced yard, no exceptions and a home visit does confirm the condition of that fenced yard. In Holly’s case, no doggy door. Another canine companion in the home is also a must for 99.9% of our rescues since they learn from other dogs and are most comfortable around other dogs.
Please complete an application first, then contact Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com.
