This is Sawyer!!! He's a smart lovable 7 1/2 year old, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! He's really ultra-adorable in every way! Sawyer was born in Ireland and was a stud since coming to live in the US. Once he came into Lucky Star, he was neutered and has had a medical work up, including a dental appointment. He needed 12 teeth extracted. The vet recommended an appointment with a cardiologist for further testing. We set up an appointment and Sawyer, was given approval to proceed with neutering/dental. His heart should be checked every year. The one medical issue he does have, is two detached retinas. This does not necessitate medicine or any surgery. We do not observe any vision limitations.   

Sawyer has been crate trained. He sleeps in his crate each night and whenever we leave the house for an extended period of time. He walks well on a leash and loves to take walks in the neighborhood!! He knows how to use the doggie steps to get on/ off the couch. It keeps him safe. He is able to climb up/ down a full flight of stairs. He is totally housebroken. Sawyer knows his name and will respond by looking, immediately. His favorite toys are stuffed dog toys or rubber squeaky dog toys.  They provide him with great comfort. He's learning commands such as: sit, come, stay, etc. He is very motivated to work for "treats". Sawyer quickly learned where the treat jar is in the kitchen and will immediately sit in front of it, upon reentering the house after going out to the bathroom.

He can be cautious of new people and situations. We find that once he's comfortable, he readily makes friends with people and other cavaliers. He soaks up all the love and affection that he can find!! Sawyer loves hanging out in a fluffy dog bed. He's equally happy to lay on the rug or a couch or the cool tiles in the kitchen, during the summer. At night, he enjoys laying on the couch next to his human for snuggles and back scratches, while the TV set is on!! Sawyer is great with kids and has been with children daily, that are ages: 3,9 and 11.  Older, dog savvy children would be OK with him.  He has no history of destructive behaviors. He is not an excessive barker. In fact, he rarely barks! He adapted to this group of fir siblings in the foster home, quickly.

Sawyer would love to have at least one other dog in his home. He is still learning and who better than a dog to "teach him the ropes"! Sawyer loves running around in the grass outside, in the fenced backyard. A securely fenced yard that is attached to the home is a must.  He eats two meals a day, with the other dogs, in the kitchen. He eats every bite!!
