Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Piper is a recent retired breeding mama who is so happy to be living her best life now. She was reported to be approximately 4.5 years old, but she has the energy and playfulness of a younger dog. Piper is approximately 23 lbs which the doctor was happy with. She is healthy and has no evidence of a heart murmur. She has been spayed, vaccinated, HW tested, and is microchipped. She had her teeth cleaned and now loves to show off her newly white chompers.
Piper is a little firecracker and makes her foster family smile and laugh so much. She’s outgoing, loves everyone, and loves to play, but when she is tired, she loves to cuddle next to or on her humans. She quickly became a fan favorite at a local “Yappy Hour” and just loves the attention. If there was a prize for Miss Congeniality, she would win in a landslide. She’s great with other dogs and children, and kisses everyone she meets.
She loves food and treats. Her foster mom and dad can’t get the kibble from the container to her bowl fast enough for her liking. She does try to steal other dogs’ food, but she can be quickly redirected to her own bowl. She has quickly grown to love her foster doggie siblings, and tries so hard to get them to play. She really would benefit from having another dog in the home that will play with her and help her conquer her two fears: going down stairs and jumping on the couch.
She is about 95% potty trained. She does really well when she is let out every 3-4 hours, but still isn’t sure how to let someone know when she has to go. She is doing well walking on a leash, and really enjoys being outside. She does get a little distracted by all the new sights and smells as she’s so curious of her new world! Piper sleeps great at night. She goes back and forth between a large crate (with the door open) and a nearby dog bed — both in her foster parent’s room. However, I’m sure she would much prefer sleeping in bed with her humans.
Overall, she is a really great dog and any family would be so lucky to have her! Piper is being fostered near Saratoga Springs, NY. We require a securely fenced yard (no exceptions) and another canine companion in the home. Long distant adoptions are not approved. Please complete an application, then contact Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com of your interest.
