Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) : : Female : : Young
Molly is a 7 month old female Cavalier. Her owner died and family members worked long hours and were not able to give her the time and attention that a puppy needs so they contacted Lucky Star. The first think you will notice is her coloring. She is a tri but with merle coloring which is rare in Cavaliers and not a recognized color. We have the dna results to confirm that she is all Cavalier. There are no other negative conditions noted with the unusual coat color which is genetic and very rare.
She is very good about going into her crate and sleeping through the night. She is very much a puppy, she will chew on items at her level(baskets, books) if left alone, but if watched and told no she stops. She loves her chew toys, playing with her foster siblings who are both adult dogs. If she nips too hard, they will let her know and correct her as mothers will. She walks well on the leash and has only barked while playing outside of play growling. Housebreaking is still a work in progress. She will need help letting the family know when she has to go outside, as she is usually going out with the fosters who ask to go out. She has not had many accidents, one was by the door to go out so she was in the right place just wasn't sure how to ask to go out. We are working on it, and praising for pottying in the grass.
Loves to snuggle when her foster mom sits outside by the fire, or when her foster mom is reading. She is doing well with “sit” command and responding to “No” when she is heading toward mischief, and answering to her name. Does well with steps now, she was unsure at first. She does well with new people, has been with 3/4 new people and no problem. Been with older teens. She would be good with older children only because she still has those sharp puppy teeth and is lively. She likes to sit at your head if you lay down, like a cat, but is happy to cuddle on a lap or next to you also. Takes her medication well, she is a gobble eater, but the divided bowl helps, she will bark while waiting in her crate in the morning to be feed as she sees you coming with the food.
Molly has been spayed and had all of the vaccinations that are due. At this time, she is in good health. She is being fostered in Dayton, Ohio. We do not ship dogs or approve of long-distant adoptions so please consider her location before applying. We absolutely require a physical fence that is attached to the home, another dog in the home and preferably someone who works from home or has a split schedule with other family members so she is not left alone for long periods of time.
Please complete an application, then contact Mary Coyne, mary401339@aol.com or luckystarrescue@gmail.com of your interest.
