Must haves for Amy

  • At least one other small dog as a companion
  • Fenced yard
  • Someone who can let her out every 3-4 hours each day

Amy’s first years were spent in a commercial breeding facility but this 6 1/2 year old (approximate age)  girl’s new life is so exciting she is acting and playing like the puppy she never got to be. Once she figured out the schedule at her foster home she is doing well with her housebreaking. We do want Amy to be in a home where she will be able to go outside every 3 or 4 hours. She eats like a champ and has caught on to walking on a leash quickly. She has been microchipped, spayed and had a dental.

She is very loving and loves to cuddle. When she goes on walks to the park she is very friendly with young children and everyone she meets. She loves to play with the three resident cavaliers in her foster home and gets along really well with the cats.

She is possessive of her toys and will growl when someone tries to take them away but never escalates to more than a growl. This is not unusual for a dog that has never had anything of her own before.

Amy came to Lucky Star with what we thought was a grade 3 patella but after doing some water therapy she is doing great and gaining strength in her leg muscles and knees. The therapist has told us that she feels her patella is at a grade 1 and that she has some arthritis in that joint. The water therapy and supplements have greatly improved her flexibility. It would be wonderful if her adoptive family could continue this therapy for her. Amy needs a home with a physically fenced yard and another small dog as a companion.

Amy is being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. If you would like to make Amy a part of your home please fill out an adoption application at www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org
